So thought I'd pop into live journal and have a mooch about see what's going on etc. Therefore I know logically I'm really trying avoid something in the real world. Anyhow while I'm here thought an update wouldn't go amiss :)
Have been out and about with an exciting new band called Youngplan who have been touring with Mumm-ra. Originally got to know them through their guitarist who I had done a few shoots with. Anyways the upshoot is their on a fast climb to the top and piccies I took of them are now in The Fly magazine and possibly NME this week :D
Meantime my little magazine Good Measure! is collecting fans and it looks like we have got advertising for Issue 4 which will allow us to go to 32 pages.
Still shooting the fashion although being based in Estbourne is definitely proving to be a handicap on this front :(
so have decided it would be worth travelling and staying somewhere overnight for the right shoot so if anyone here fancys a shoot based round a black and white cinematic theme give me a shout.

Here's my mate Harry from Issue 3 having a Nu-Rave moment ha ha

Cheers and all.

Me and Charlotte make the cover of Bizarre :)

Well although Charlotte had tipped me off that she was on the cover it's still a shocking & exciting moment to see one of your pics staring back from the shelf of WH Smith's at you. Having just secured a on-going contract today to shoot fashion and get paid by a local magazine, I started working for a top london photo agency this week and I'm also getting paid to photograph drunk students at a local nightclub things are definitely moving forwards :)

Ta and hope your all well,

Well my New Year's res is going well, 7th Feb and two entry's already :) Just back from a weekend in Berlin the main reason for which was to see the Kaiser Chiefs Album launch party at the Colombia Club. All very enjoyable plus got to hang out in Berlin for 4 days as well. Took a load of touristy pics which I'll post soon.
Working hard on Good Measure Issue 3, interviewed Blood Red Shoes for it last weds, who are both really nice and have a great image/chemistry.
Have a listen to them on MySpace if you have a moment spare.

Ta,
Paul

Okay so to say I've been to busy to post for 6 months sounds a bit crap and it is so no apology's I've just been preoccupied with other stuff :)
Just back from a trip to Las Vegas for a friends wedding, loads of fun although it was really expensive even with us getting nearly two dollars to the pound. saturday night saw pop midget Prince at the Rio which was really great, only holds around 1000 people so very intimate and he brought Aretha Franklin on stage to sing with him for one of his encores. Wow!
Have spent the last six months developing a magazine called Good Measure which is now two issues old and up to a print run of 3000. Issue three is due beginning of March. Currently casting the fashion so if anyone who reads this fancies modeling some street type clothing for a small amount of cash then give me a shout.
Ta,
Paul

Well did okay at Uni i think, got a solid 2.1 so that good, I'm told. Have decided to take on less photo stuff this year as it def distracted me from putting in 100% to the course.
Spent the 28th june with a band called The Players, who were very funky infact. Took loads of pics both at the soundcheck and later at the gig down Brick Lane in Laaahndun. Uploaded the pics to my website where this one to my surprise was the most popular, have just found out that the lady on the right is in Coronation Street, hence the interest. Apparently she's on tonight so I'm gonna watch the thing for the first time ever. I stupidly assumed that she was the singers mum,tee hee :D

Hope all my friends are well and enjoying the summer.

xx

Well the fanzine is progressing well, almost all the pics are now done and I'm just writing up the interviews from the various bands I've interviewed over the past eight weeks. Think I'm definitely going to take a break from such intensive photography for a month or so and get my energy levels back up. That said shooting a day on the road with The Players next week, probably Status Quo :) next Saturday.
Oh and those lovely Zucchini boys have used one of my photos for their single which is out next week, top drawer :D

It's strange that after spending months creating an on line presence to forward your business, you go out for an evening, meet real people, converse and achieve more on a fun night out than in many months of lonely surfing. So how many more opportunities did I miss??
Plus got to see Holy Fuck so double bubble really... :)

And just realised I missed the X Factor :(

Spent three days last week at The Great Escape festival in Brighton. Weather was attrocious but the music was great. Highlights included Shitdisco, You Say Party We Say Die! and the Rumblestrips. If your a Kate Bush fan try listening to Joana and the Wolf who sound like Kate backed by the Stooges, in other words totally brilliant!

Cheers Ears,

Well got all my uni stuff done and in by the deadline and then find out all the teachers are on strike and refusing to release our marks. Okay for us part-time first years but must be really aggravating for those waiting to graduate, whether they agree with the action or not.
Spent most of yesterday working and finishing the images from the Drac in a Box shoot from a few weeks ago. Hey, Penney the cd is in the post :D
Image below featuring Mr Targ ( who I should try and find here) and grat hair and make up by my mate Candice.

Gonna watch the rest of the footie now, TTFN

Just to say if you get a chance to catch Duke Special on his current tour, it's worth the effort, dates here. His percussionist is fucking amazing, using all sorts of instruments including on one song he plays a cheese grater with a whisk! Oh, and he's just signed a three album deal with V2 records too.

Hi Ho, off to work!

So no update for a week or so...sadly the NME decided that Eddie Vedder was too much of an old fart to feature in their mag, only gave the new album four as well. Saw the Kaiser Chiefs last Tuesday which for it's size was a great gig, interviewed "We Start Fires" on Wednesday for a secret project and "Kubichek" on Friday for the same thing.
Then realised had to hand in an essay for the 3rd, so spent the whole bank holiday weekend researching and writing an essay on
"The Extent to which the Landscape is a Cultural Construction."
Managed just over 1500 words of what my mate Jamie would describe as "art wank' :D
Now completely knackered and without any spark to get on with the day job...never mind eh?

Great weekend. Friday interviewed and shot Bromheads Jacket. Saturday went to Izumi Record's first birthday bash at The Old Blue Last in E1. Took along the film camera for some black and white shots. Great evening with loads of bands when Eddie Vedder (lead singer of Pearl Jam) joins Izumi band Betchadupa on stage for a number. Took some pics, quite drunk really and just had a phone call to say NME want to seee my pics and if any good will use them for a story :D
Now very worried whether anything came out on the film as was pretty merry by the time this occured. But I'm made up.

Met Butch, a top illustrator who works under the name Attai Press as he painted the window of local shop Urban Industry. A bit of temporary art which will be scraped off at the end of the summer but definitely brightens up the end of town,
I took the top pic and Dan took the bottom one.
